Benefits of Meals on Wheels
Research shows that healthy eating provides essential energy and nutrients for general well being, maintenance of health and functional autonomy. Improving the diet of our seniors reduces their risk of chronic disease. In addition to the benefits of regular, hot, and nutritious meals, Meals on Wheels Waco also offers:
Regular social contact and interaction with our volunteers
Opportunity to maintain or regain independence
Relief for caregivers who normally prepare meals
Assurance for non-live-in family members
Ability to spot problems with seniors before they become serious
Reduced likelihood of falls
