Groceries to Go

Groceries-to-go is a partnership between Caritas of Waco food pantry and Meals on Wheels Waco. The goal of the program is to provide an extra bag of groceries to homebound seniors who receive Meals on Wheels and need additional food assistance.

Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver grocery bags prepared by Caritas to homebound seniors once a month.

If you are interested in delivering groceries once a month, please click the VOLUNTEER button below.

Pet Programs

PET FOOD PROGRAM: Meals on Wheels Waco delivers pet food to over 300 cats and dogs once  a month. The program is dependent on community donations. We accept cat food, small dog food, regular-size dog food; we prefer dry pet food, but canned food and treats are welcome. We also accept donations of cat litter and 1 gallon-size slider bags.

Pet food routes are delivered by volunteers. If you would like to help deliver a pet food route, click here. If you would like to donate to our pet food program, click the Donate button below.

PROJECT TREASURED TAILS:  Meals on Wheels Waco partners with the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Clinic to help clients access preventive pet healthcare, which keeps their cat or dog healthy, happy, and safe with them in their home. Through Project Treasured Tails, ABC Clinic volunteers go to the homes of Meals on Wheels Waco clients to transport  their cat or dog to the clinic for services such as vaccinations, flea treatments, heartworm medication, and spay/neutering.

If you would like to donate to Project Treasured Tails, click the donate button below.

Heater/Fan Drives

When the weather becomes really hot or cold, we want to make sure our seniors stay comfortable in their homes. In the summer, we do a box fan drive; in the winter, we do a heater drive. Since we need to provide our seniors certain types of fans and heaters, the easiest way to help is by making a monetary donation

If you are interested in donating to these drives, please click the Donate button below.

Thanksgiving Meal Deliveries

Every year, we partner with the Scottish Rite Bodies of Waco to provide a meal to our homebound seniors in Waco on Thanksgiving Day. If you are interested in volunteering to deliver on Thanksgiving morning, please contact us by October 31st  so we can reserve a route for you. You can call 254-752-0316 to sign up to volunteer.

Holiday Gift Bags for Seniors

In early December, we start collecting items to include in holiday gift bags for our homebound seniors. Some examples of items needed are blankets, socks, gloves, lotion, toiletries, boxed tissues, magnifying glasses, flashlights, batteries, etc. You may drop off  your donations at our main office (501 W. Waco Drive).

Holiday Treat Bags for Pets

Looking for the purrrrfect way to give back during the holidays? Consider donating pet toys and treats for the furry companions of some of our seniors. We would love items for small and medium size dogs as well as cats.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Meals on Wheels Waco. Without them, we will not be able to fulfill our mission of nourishing the bodies, minds, and spirits of older adults in the Heart of Texas.

Meal Delivery

We deliver lunch meals starting at 10:30 am, Monday-Friday, from 34 meal sites in three counties. Whether you would like to do a weekly route or prefer to be an on-call substitute driver, we could use your help! Sign up now! We have weekly volunteer orientation every Wednesday, from 1-2 pm at our Waco office. You are welcome to join us anytime!

Pet Food Delivery

Once a month, our pet food drivers deliver cat and/or dog food to some of our pet-owning homebound seniors. Here’s one volunteer opportunity that offers some flexibility — you can pick up your pet food route during your lunch break then make your delivery after work or even during the weekend, allowing you more time to visit with our seniors.

Pet Food Bagging

On a regular basis, we need volunteers to come to our facility and re-bag the pet food donations we receive into gallon-size slider bags. This is a great group volunteer activity for companies, Sunday School classes, student organizations, and others.

Once a month, we deliver a bag full of groceries to some of our homebound seniors. Volunteers pick up the groceries from our main office on a Wednesday or Thursday and deliver them within the day or no later than Friday.

Shelf Stable Meal Packing

Just before an upcoming holiday, we need group volunteers to come to our kitchen and help pack shelf stable meals. This is another great group volunteer activity for companies, churches, student organizations, and the like.

Handyman Helpers

Are you a do-it-yourself kind of person? If so, we need your skills! Our handyman volunteers do minor, safety-related home repairs and/or yard work.
